What does your website traffic reveal?

Standard fare on all Bizzuka’s clients since August 2010 is Google Analytics. If your site predates this time, then you might be missing out on this powerful, easy-to-use, free service that helps analyze your site traffic data. With analytics, you get intelligent insight into who’s visiting where on your site and what  they’re attracted to – or not. Identifying and evaluating this information strengthens your marketing initiatives and produces higher converting websites.   If you’re uncertain whether Google Analytics is activated on your site, we’re here to help! Simply contact us and we’ll identify whether you’ve got the tool, and if not, help you get started. Or, if you have Google Analytics and want some expertise about how to tweak your site for better traffic, we can help you with that as well with some of our SEO packages.

Beware of Deceptive Website “Grading” Tactics . . .

Lately, we’ve been hearing from a lot of customers who have been approached by SEO “experts” or other Web developers that have “graded” the client’s website for its search engine friendliness. Typically, the client will get a phone call, email or other sales pitch warning that their site has received a failing grade by the salesperson’s computerized grading system. The failure centers on poor search engine rankings for key words that were used in the report. Naturally, the sales person has the solution to these dismal grades, and if you’d only switch to them, your problems would be solved.

A few panicked clients have brought this to our attention, and we’ve been able to assist them in recognizing that these “web graders” often use deceptive tools and misleading variables that inevitably render the lowest possible rankings.  For instance, one law firm we know received a failing grade for the term “auto accidents”. Well, of course! No one looking for a law firm would type in “auto accidents.” They might type in “auto accident attorney”, but not simply “auto accidents”. Interestingly enough, not a single client of the competitor who prepared this “grading” appeared in Google when we typed in “auto accidents.”

With more than 700 clients, Bizzuka has a proven track record of successful website design and Internet marketing. BEFORE you fall prey to this ploy, contact Bizzuka’s staff experts to conduct a legitimate analysis for you, or analyze any evaluation results you may receive from competitors. A search engine analysis from Bizzuka is a free service we provide for our clients. If you want to know where you rank and how you can improve your search engine traffic, give us a call.

Bottom line:  SEO is an art as much as a science; search engine rankings of your site (e.g. Google, Yahoo) is something we specialize in at Bizzuka.  Again, we are proud to be your trusted Web partner and are here for you!

GeoTag patent holder presses suit against retailer heavyweights . . .

GeoTag, Inc., a Plano, Texas-based company, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against hundreds of companies for use of their “Internet Organizer for Accessing Geographically and Topically Based Information.” The 1999 patent covers, among other things, “systems and methods which comprise associating online information with geographic areas, such systems and methods comprising computers, an organizer and a search engine configured to provide a geographical search area wherein at least one entry associated with a broader geographical area is dynamically replicated into at least one narrower geographical area, the search engine further configured to search topics within the selected geographical area,” state the court papers filed Dec. 17-22 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in Marshall, Texas.

Translation: BIG companies, from Adidas to Tiffany are being sued because they use “geotagging” on their websites (you type in a zipcode and up pops a nearby location). Bizzuka will keep you posted – we can’t imagine a world without a “find a location near you” tab function!?!

On a lighter note:  next Christmas @ Amazon- return gifts before you!

Amazon.com, the source of many presents good, bad or ugly, has patented a system that would let people exchange unwanted gifts for those they actually want—even before they get them. For now, though, it's just an idea, so until Amazon figures out how to implement it, you might be stuck with that itchy sweater from Grandma, even if she bought it online. Based on Amazon's patent filing, recipients of unwanted gifts would be able to exchange items that are too big, too colorful or otherwise unwanted for something of equal value. They could also pay the difference for a more expensive item or get a gift certificate. They could do this before they actually receive the gift, thus saving themselves the hassle of re-packaging and mailing the unwanted present. If they wish, recipients could even send a thank you-note for the original gift. They can disclose to the sender that their gift has been converted, or simply keep it from them and just hope they don't ask about it later. If there's a friend or family member with a history of giving unwanted presents—the filing calls her Aunt Mildred—users could select to convert all gifts from this person into something else. Amazon says its idea would benefit gift-givers as well, as they can take a chance on a more interesting gift knowing that it can be returned (Source: CNET News.com).

Children’s Hospital New Orleans Unveils New Website by Bizzuka Web Design

Lafayette Design Firm Tapped for Major New Orleans Project

January 12, 2011 - LAFAYETTE, LA Children’s Hospital of New Orleans and Bizzuka, Inc. – one of the premier web design, content management, and Internet marketing firms in the United States – are proud to unveil a new website design for Children’s Hospital (chnola.org).

Work began on the project in October with the primary objective of updating and upgrading the site to serve the full spectrum of Children’s Hospital’s community, including physicians, patients, and donors. New features include a special events calendar; a quick links section for important issues (e.g., Emergency Preparedness); prominent tabs for finding a doctor, donating, and other key hospital services.

"The new CHNOLA.com gives a more accurate representation of what Children’s hospital is – a cutting edge medical center more than capable of meeting our regional pediatric needs,” said Children’s Hospital spokesman Chris Price. "We feel that the site helps us better communicate. It is easy to navigate and allows us a one-stop-spot to provide information to all of our constituents – patient families, the medical community, visitors, donors, friends and guests.”

"New Orleans Children’s Hospital’s site now reflects the contemporary, first-class facility it is, while also reinforcing its well-respected reputation for medical excellence,” Bizzuka CEO John Munsell said. "We are happy to do our part in making the total website experience the best it can be.”
