iPad2 – Worth the Hype???
Apple blew the doors off any would-be competitors in the tablet computer world earlier this month with the iPad2. The critics had a hard time finding fault with this “smaller is better” paradoxical device – especially at the same price point as the original.
Bizzuka's Own Take . . .
Ryan Farnell, Bizzuka Developer, says, “The iPad2 is a nice step forward in its evolution. The most notable difference between the 1st and 2nd generation is thickness and weight (or lack thereof). The iPad2 is 33% thinner and 15% lighter than the original. It really makes a difference in how easy it is to hold. Also, there is a noticeable speed increase when browsing the web and performing various other activities on 2."
“Dual cameras are on the iPad2 (none were on the original). One faces the user, which is good for FaceTime and Photo Booth; the other is rear-facing camera and high resolution enough for HD video, but not for still images. Some reviewers think the lower resolution rear camera a problem, but how often are people going to walk around snapping pictures with their iPads?”
“Possibly the coolest feature of iPad2 is the Smart Cover. Purchased separately, it attaches with a series of magnets and covers the screen. There is a magnet on the opposite side of the iPad to hold down the cover and detect when it’s in place. This causes the iPad to automatically turn on and off when opened/closed or you can use it as an easel/prop.”
Bottom Line . . .
“If I were buying an iPad for the first time, I would definitely go ahead and get the second generation. If you own the original iPad, this may be a generation to skip – unless you really want the speed and cameras.”

Update on GeoTag Lawsuit . . .
Earlier this year, eBurst reported that GeoTag, Inc., a Plano, Texas-based company, had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against hundreds of companies for use of their "Internet Organizer for Accessing Geographically and Topically Based Information” (i.e. you type in a zip code and up pops a locator map) and we’d keep you apprised. The case is important because of its widespread use among commercial businesses, both big and small. In an unusual joining of hands, Microsoft and Google are now taking front and center on defeating GeoTag’s claim – read more about this landmark technology case.
