Quick Response (QR) codes, aren’t new but they are becoming very popular among the younger, more tech-savvy generation. QR codes are becoming a staple in the market place. Before you begin a QR Code campaign, it helps to be clear on where you take your users and give them a reason to go there.
The biggest advantage to QR codes is their versatility. Here’s a few creative ways to use QR codes in your marketing campaigns. All you need is a little ingenuity and a quick trip to your favorite office supply store to get started:
Get Interactive With Business Cards - Simple and effective, especially if your target market is a younger demographic.
Promote with a Poster - Give users some incentive to scan your poster. You could offer a free giveaway, info about an event, or coupon codes for online purchase discounts.
Sweepstakes: Scan it to Win it! - There are many ways to entice users to scan your code, competitions and sweepstakes are the best.
Interact With Packaging - Adding a QR code to your product’s packaging is a great way to add more appeal.
Stick One Anywhere - Use QR codes on stickers.

Promoting your website with a QR Code is a popular and effective way to drive traffic from mobile users. However, linking the code to a website that isn't mobile friendly will leave a bad impression. Put yourself in the shoes of a mobile user. They want a professional looking solution in a mobile friendly experience. If you provide that, your promotion will be successful. If not, you're better off not using them.

Hosting Webinars. Webinars are unique from any other form of online media as they allow users to communicate with you in real-time. They ask questions and they can hear you answer them directly, thus creating the ‘feel’ of a more intimate one-on-one conversation.
Social Media Marketing. More companies in 2011 decided to take a more personal approach when interacting with their fans on social media sites. Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are still the most popular social media sites and big players in 2012.
